Socialites Riding Network: Houston’s Black-Owned Farm Offers Horseback Riding & Framing

In the heart of Houston, Texas, a powerful movement is growing — not just crops, but also hope, unity, and sustainability. The Socialites Riding Network Inc., a Black-owned nonprofit farm, is inspiring change by reconnecting people with the land and each other.

Founded in 2021 by Della Holden, a passionate leader and advocate for environmental wellness, the organization is more than just a farm — it’s a safe space where people learn how to live sustainably, take care of the earth, and even enjoy the simple joy of horseback riding.

What sets this Houston-based farm apart is its focus on regenerative agriculture and land stewardship. Visitors of all ages are welcomed and taught how to grow their own food — a skill that not only promotes healthy eating but also self-reliance and community resilience.

“This is about healing — healing our soil, our bodies, and our communities,” says Della Holden, who built The Socialites Riding Network Inc. with a mission to restore connections between people and nature. Children, teens, and adults are invited to get their hands dirty and learn how to cultivate crops, raise animals, and build sustainable lifestyles.

The farm also offers horseback riding lessons, a highlight for many first-time riders who experience a sense of calm and connection with the animals. For many in the Black community, it’s a rare and empowering opportunity to experience farm life in a space that is welcoming, educational, and inspiring.

Through workshops, youth programs, and volunteer opportunities, The Socialites Riding Network Inc. is changing lives. It’s not just about farming — it’s about creating leaders, building confidence, and showing what’s possible when communities work together.
