Meryanne Loum-Martin is the Only Black Woman Who Own & Operate Jnane Tamsna

In the heart of Marrakech, Morocco, one woman is rewriting history with grace, culture, and creativity. Meryanne Loum-Martin, a visionary designer and hotelier, has become the first and only Black woman to own and operate a boutique hotel in Morocco, Jnane Tamsna — and the world is taking notice.

Her hotel, Jnane Tamsna, is more than just a place to stay. It’s a peaceful retreat where African elegance meets Moroccan charm. Set in the lush Palmeraie area of Marrakech, this luxury oasis blends art, heritage, and nature in a way that feels like home — but better.

Born to a West African father and a Caribbean mother, Meryanne has always been inspired by culture and creativity. She left behind a legal career in France to follow her passion for design and hospitality. In 2001, she and her husband opened Jnane Tamsna, and since then, the hotel has attracted artists, celebrities, writers, and travelers from all over the world.

But what truly sets her apart is how she uses her space to uplift others. Jnane Tamsna isn’t just a hotel — it’s a hub for culture, Black excellence, and global connections. From hosting writing retreats to cultural events and wellness weekends, Meryanne has built a brand rooted in purpose.

Her journey hasn’t been easy. In an industry where very few people of color, especially Black women, are at the top, she carved her own path. Through passion, vision, and a commitment to excellence, Meryanne Loum-Martin has proven that anything is possible.

As a positive media platform for the Black community, we celebrate pioneers like Meryanne. She’s not just running a hotel — she’s making space for culture, beauty, and Black history in Morocco.
