HBCU Grad and Childhood Friend Build Black-Owned Accounting Firm offering Jobs, and Helping Families

From the inner-city streets of Los Angeles to the halls of Morehouse College, the journey of Hwesu Cobb-Phillips is one of discipline, vision, and legacy. Today, he is the co-founder of ABC Financial Group, a Black-owned accounting firm that is not only creating jobs but also giving back to the community and helping families build wealth that lasts for generations.

After graduating from Morehouse, a historically Black college, Hwesu began his career at one of the most respected firms in the world—PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). There, he sharpened his skills and gained the type of experience many young professionals dream of. But even with corporate success in front of him, Hwesu felt something was missing. He knew his purpose went beyond climbing the corporate ladder—he wanted to bring his knowledge back home to serve his community.

With that vision, Hwesu partnered with his childhood friend to launch ABC Financial Group. Together, they built more than just a business. They built a mission. Their firm helps families and businesses manage finances with clarity, while also teaching the importance of planning for the future. For Hwesu, accounting isn’t just about numbers—it’s about helping families create legacies, achieve stability, and open doors for the next generation.

As a husband and father of three, Hwesu understands firsthand the importance of financial security. He brings that personal touch into his work, leading ABC Financial Group with both heart and strategy. The company has become a trusted resource for clients across the country, especially for families who may not have had access to financial education before.

Beyond their professional services, ABC Financial Group also invests in giving back. Whether through mentorship, community programs, or creating new job opportunities, the firm is proving that success means little if it is not shared. Hwesu and his partner are using their platform to uplift others, especially young people who dream of building something meaningful from the ground up.

In many ways, Hwesu’s story has come full circle. From Los Angeles streets to corporate boardrooms and now back to his community, his life shows that success is not just about personal gain—it’s about leaving a legacy.

ABC Financial Group is more than an accounting firm. It’s a symbol of what happens when vision, discipline, and purpose come together to create lasting change.
