Damola Adamolekun, a 35-year-old Nigerian native, has been named the new CEO of Red Lobster. Adamolekun previously made history as the first Black CEO of P.F. Chang’s, an Asian-fusion restaurant chain. His leadership at P.F. Chang’s was marked by success, and now he faces a new challenge at Red Lobster.

Red Lobster recently filed for bankruptcy in Florida, carrying about $300 million in debt. The company plans to close some restaurants and sell itself to its lenders or a higher bidder. Despite these financial struggles, Red Lobster will continue to operate as an independent company, with 544 locations across 44 states in the U.S. and four provinces in Canada.
