In 2023, Harvard student Davion Tatum (@iamdaviontatum) took an inspiring step toward empowering young people by founding his scholarship fund, The A1 Foundation. The Trailblazers of Change Scholarship was created to encourage and reward high school students for their activism and civic engagement.

The first year’s award, made possible through community donations, was $700 and went to one deserving recipient, Dexter Bernard Smith II (@dexx1kk), who became the first-ever winner of the Trailblazers of Change Scholarship.

This year, with the help of TikTok and social media outreach, Tatum and The A1 Foundation raised the scholarship amount to $1,000, which was awarded to three different recipients. The scholarship aims to recognize students passionate about positively impacting their communities.
