Gwynda Jones, a mother and former corporate employee at PepsiCo, made an incredible comeback after facing a life-threatening challenge. In 2020, Gwynda left her corporate job to pursue her passion for health and wellness by becoming a franchise owner of Hotworx, a 24-hour infrared fitness studio. However, soon after making this decision, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Doctors gave her a devastating prognosis, telling her she had only six months to a year to live.
Against all odds, with the unwavering support of her family and her inner strength, Gwynda fought back. She defied the doctors’ expectations and won her battle against cancer. Just one year later, in March 2021, Gwynda achieved her dream and became the proud owner of HOTWORX River North in Chicago.
Gwynda wasn’t alone in this journey. Her daughter, Monica Nia, decided to step in and help her mother bring the business to life. Although entrepreneurship was not part of Monica’s original plans, her dedication and support were vital in getting the studio up and running.
Now, the mother-daughter duo is helping others stay fit and healthy. HOTWORX River North offers a range of fitness programs, including YOGA, PILATES, CYCLE, ROW, and BARRE—all in a 24-hour infrared fitness studio. To start or enhance your fitness journey, visit their studio in Chicago, IL.
